~ Recipes Are Below The Tips ~
TIPS
- Via My TIPS on each recipe — I have modified all recipes (other people’s) — to be Vegan, AIP & Elimination Phase compliant. I am eternally grateful for all the AIP forerunners, vegans, and others who are recipe creators.
- Coconut Yogurt – AIP Compliant (additive-free), store-bought brands: “Cocojune,” “Cocoyo,” “Coyo,” or “Culina”
- Coconut Milk – AIP Compliant (additive-free), store-bought brands: “Native Forest (No Guar),” “Golden Star,” “Thrive Market,” “Natural Value.”
COFFEE~
Coffee comes from seeds – which isn’t allowed in the “elimination” phase of the AIP diet.
However, Caffeine is allowed. However, caffeine is an immune stimulant – and, can result in adrenal fatigue and contribute to other health issues. It can cause an autoimmune flare in certain people.
But, There’s Tons of Amazing Alternatives. Check them out below!!
ALCOHOL~
Alcohol is restricted on the AIP diet. If you are being very strict with the AIP diet, you can likely have an occasional drink (make sure to stay away from any grain-based alcohols though, especially beer and ale which contain gluten). But, it’s not advised at all – until you are starting to see some success from AIP.
Chris Kresser (Functional Medicine Expert) puts the limit on one 5 oz. glass of wine twice per week (or equivalent amount of hard alcohol) – not from grains (rum, tequila, sherry, cognac, and brandy). (The Paleo Mom)

SMOOTHIES ~
- If you are Vegan and AIP – it is recommended to eat between 12 – 16 c. of veggies a day (Vegan AIP FB page).
- So, a good way to get in your veggies – is to start the day with a smoothie filled with 6 cups of greens.
- For the Ultimate Vegan AIP Smoothie – there are a million options!
- Follow Dr. Brooke Goldner’s recipe below as a guide. Then get creative!
- 6 cups of greens / 75% greens and other veggies and only 25% fruit.
- Super Nutritious Greens: watercress, chinese cabbage, chard, beet greens, spinach, chicory, romaine lettuce, kale, spinach, dandelion greens, mustard greens, collard greens, other lettuces, endive, arugula, wild greens, too, etc.
- Other raw veggies: (celery, cucumber, avocado, radish, zucchini, butternut squash, beets, cauliflower, carrots, etc.)
- If you don’t have a “Vitamix” – and, your blender can’t handle hard veggies (i.e. carrots or beets) – try shredding them first!
- Cooked veggies: There’s more nutritional value in raw veggies, but try making a super thick smoothie (or, smoothie bowl) with – sweet potatoes, winter squash, etc.
- Fruits – only 25%! ( fresh and dried)
- Fresh Herbs: ginger, garlic, mint, cilantro, tumeric, parsley, basil, rose petals, lemongrass, fennel, etc.
- Spices: Cinnamon, mace, tumeric
- Lemon, lime
- Vanilla
- Carob
- Coconut and Coconut butter
- Liquid: water, tea, coconut milk, or coconut water.
- 6 cups of greens / 75% greens and other veggies and only 25% fruit.
- Brooke Goldner’s Favorite Green Smoothie (Dr. Brooke Goldner / Goodbye Lupus)
TIPS:
-
- Dr. Brooke Goldner drank this daily to rid herself completely of Lupus.
- On top of the greens, I usually just add a little frozen fruit (no ice) and ½ – 1 banana.
- She adds up to ½ c. of flax and / or chia seeds to her smoothie. Omit for elimination phase.
- Omit the almond milk. I just use water. You can also substitute coconut water or milk.
